In het Paenhuys staat het historisch brouwproces met een gerestaureerde historische brouwinstallatie in combinatie met een hedendaagse koel-, gist- en bewaarinstallatie centraal. Dankzij deze brouwinstallatie proeven bezoekers ook hoe bier eeuwen geleden smaakte.

In het Paenhuys wordt er uitsluitend experimenteel gebrouwen binnen een museale context. Deze brouwsels worden niet gebotteld en bijgevolg niet verkocht. Op 24 mei brouwen we een uniek bier, geïnspireerd door lokale recepten van toen. Tijdens je bezoek kan je proeven naargelang de beschikbaarheid.

The Hoge Kempen National Park has more than 9000 species of animals, plants and fungi. In our brand new BioDrome, we highlight some of the typical species of our National Park. Here you will learn how these species depend on each other and why the preservation of biodiversity is so important.

On Sunday, May 24, Piet Martens and Laurent Louwies would like to take you on a tour through the Gebroekerbeek valley where the beaver fulfills its role as ecosystem engineer. He opens up the stream valley and humidifies it. In this way he creates living space for other iconic and wonderful species such as the kingfisher and the dragonfly. After the hike, they will take you to the stream valley in the BioDrome at Lieteberg so you can understand even better how ingenious nature is.
